Task 1: What is social media?
Social media are forms of electronic communication such as websites
and applications that enable the users to create and share contents with other
users through social networking sites and microblogging. Through social media,
users can create online communities to share their personal ideas, opinions,
information, personal messages and other contents such as pictures and videos.
Websites and applications dedicated to forums, social
networking, microblogging, social bookmarking, social curation and Wikis(
server programme that allows users to contribute in forming the contents of the
website) are among the different types of social media. Some well known and
widely used social media are : Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Linkedin, Wikipedia,
Pinterest, Reddit etc.
